Profitable Hobbies

Squab Raising Revolution
"WE PLAN to have the most modern, streamlined, profitable squab farm in the world—and within three or four years," says husky, energetic Robert R. "Bob" Taylor of Alta Loma, California, a little town in the colorful wine grape and citrus country of the Sierra Madre foothills back of Pasadena.
When Bob looks around at his "Taylor Squab Ranch" he sees much to make him a happy man. Stately eucalyptus trees form a windbreak around the farm. His attractive bungalow smiles at him from its setting of palms, roses, hedges, and green lawns. The long rows of aluminum-roofed pigeon houses are visible near-by. The stucco killing and dressing house, the frog pond, and a large orchard and vineyard can also be seen. Four years ago all this was a barren wheat field.
For thirty years Taylor raised pigeons as a hobby. Always he dreamed

Raising Small Flock of Chickens ; Feed & Water

0 - 6 weeks Start the chicks with medicated starter crumbles / ayam kampung starter on crumbles feed plates or chick feed troughs. Feed with chicks starter until they are 6 weeks of age. Feed troughs; during the first 4 weeks, 50 chicks will require 2 chicks troughs. Feed troughs can be filled full the first 3 days, but should be filled no more than 1/2 to 2/3 full as to reduce feed wastage. These can be replaces with one hanging feeder per 20 chicks at 5 to 8 weeks. The chicks should have access to the feed and water at all times.

6 - 20 weeks
Feed them a grower ration. Their feed must contain at least 75% cereals and cereals products (fattening purposes). Recommended to add of at least 30% feed from grasses/weeds/dark leafy green vegetables.

20 weeks onward
Start feed the chickens with layer or breeder ration. Daily intake per bird; average 110g of commercial feed / average 170g of wet mash (household scraps). Recommended to add minimum 30% of dark leafy green vegetables/weeds/grasses daily. If birds raised for eggs, the medicated feed then replaced with a non-medicated feed.

Notes
1. Insoluble grit (
small stones) are required by poultry if they have access to grain or other foodstuffs. Soluble grit (kulit kerang/siput/ec) cannot be used in replacement. It is not grit, it is used to give laying hens extra calcium for egg-shell production. This extra calcium will cause bone development problems in young chickens.

Cerita di pasar

Harini seperti lain-lain hari, mesti kena pergi pasar. Gi amik lebihan sayur dan hampas kelapa. Dah beberapa hari uncle yang biasanya bekalkan hampas kelapa tak dapat bekalkan seperti sepatutnya. Tapi nasib baikla ada ramai lagi orang lain kat pasar yang jual santan kelapa, jadi takde masalah sangatla untuk dapatkan ganti. Ada masa tu, bila terlampau banyak bekalan hampas kelapa sampaikan tak terlayan nak amik dari mereka. Sejak mula ternak ayam itik sampai harini, most everybody at Bahau Wet Market know me. Even sometimes, when 'm not there for couple of days...sure ada auntie or uncle akan tny "hello amoi, lama tak nampak..mana pegi?" hohoho dlm hati punyala gembira...ada juga orang perasan kewujudan aku kat pasar ni.
Tapi harini kelakar giler, selalu amik lebihan sayur kat orang lain, tapi harini terpaksa amik kat orang lain plak. Bawa guni satu, berdiri depan bakul lebihan sayur dia "uncle! saya mau ambil ini sayur boleh?" then uncle respond "ala amoi, itu sayur belom habis pilih" hmmm...kenapa pulak dengan uncle ni? last-last pergi berdiri sebelah kaunter dia "uncle...saya bayar la untuk sayur2 tu.."...uncle tu dengan cepat minta pekerja dia tolong masukkan lebihan sayur dalam guni...huhuhu sungguh kelakar uncle ni. Nasib baik harini wife uncle tu takde, kalo tak lagi berkira dengan wife dia...ada masa rimas juga dengan kerenah mereka-mereka ni, tapi nak buat macamana, kita sama-sama cari rezeki. Janji tadak tipu-tipu, gaduh-gaduh... kira no hal la tu. Senyum je la hari-hari jumpa mereka ni walopon kadang-kadang depa tak balas pon senyuman kita...yang penting, ayam kat rumah kenyang makan dahla. Inila rutin seorang penternak kecilan. =)

Kabir Chicken

What is Kabir Chicken?
Kabir Chicken originated in the Middle East, where it is desired due to its very large size. Kabir means “large” in Arabic. Kabir chicken has been distributed throughout the world, gaining popularity because of its exceptional characteristics. Known as the chicken most-in-demand for backyard and small enterprise flocks.

What are the advantages of raising Kabir Chicken?

1. It is superior for meat conversion because of its rapid growth, good body conformation and efficient feed conversion. 2. The chicken is resistant to disease and heat stress. 3. It is large in size and has a “native” taste and texture. 4. When cross-breed with native chickens, the Kabir qualities are retained in the new breed. 5. Feeding cost is low since Kabir chicken can also survive by themselves. They can be raised in the same manner as “native chickens ”. 6. Kabir eggs are low in choresterol.

What are the reproductive characteristics of Kabir Chicken?
1
. One male Kabir is capable of breeding with 15 to 20 female Kabir. 2. Normally, Kabir chicken begins laying after 26 weeks or 6 ½ months. 3. Kabir layer can lay 200 eggs/cycle. 4. Kabir does natural brooding although may be late, thus should be encouraged to brood.

What are the space requirements of raising Kabir Chicken?

0-3 week @ 20 head per sq/meter
4-6 week @ 10 head per sq/meter
6 above @ 5 head per sq/meter

How much water does a Kabir consumes per day?
1 liter / day.

What are the types of range this chicken can adopt?

1
. Free-range – unrestricted, no fence. 2. Limited range –restricted, fence
.

What is the feeds requirement per Kabir?

Booster 200 grams ( DOC to at least one week )

Starter 1000 grams ( 2nd week to 4th week )

Finisher 1000 grams/500 grams ( 5th week/6th weeks up )

If you will try to raise at least 10 heads, how many feeds in kilos will they consume?

For Year 1
: Booster 2 kilos + Starter 10 kilos + Finisher 31.5 kilos
= Total
43.5 kgs @ RM 78.30 @ RM 73.10 (if consume bigC feed for ayam kampung but the protien content quite low)

What is the socio-economic impact of Kabir chicken raising?

Kabir chicken raising is a very good livelihood opportunity to families that desire to have an additional income, and a source of “native style”meat and exceptionally nutritious and low cholesterol table eggs. Also, Kabir chickens’ large size and handsome appearance make them a source of pride, especially among the rural folks.
Kabir chicken production can contribute to the economic and social development. Kabir chicken raising also can be implemented as an alternative livelihood development project aimed to benefit needy families and constituents (Elmer Esplana).

Lengang reban skit...
Rendang siap dimasak pukul 3p.m harini. Perghh...sedap sungguh Mak masak! Personally, kurengs or not in favor kalau orang lain yang masak untuk my rendang or lemang or anything else. Mak always my 1st choice, no matter what people says about somebody good cookings, the foods still not taste the same as Mak's.

Kalo dah terlebih production nanti, buang je dalam mana-mana sungai or parit...kira ni dah jadi keja amal lak. Tapi no hal la tu...kos dia bukan mahal pon...20posen je. Silap-silap haribulan, abis semua kawasan rumah dan reban disembur EM...pokok-pokok pon cantik semacam.

weekend house

This restoration project start in early Mac 2009. This project own by my sister, but she elected me to make her dream into reality. I try my very best to apply all what I've been studied at school. And to apply the accessible design concept to this house.

This is the interior look to this house. Using 90% timber as construction material, and 50% are source from 2nd-hand timber. I plan to paint this house with oil based paint, apply black and white scheme.

Actually I cannot wait to finish this project. Hopefully, one day I can use this house for a home-stay project. Back to kampung style. With the white peafowl companion around...Yeah!!

Project completed.

enjoy...

Arnab baru

Tapi memang cun arnab baru ni...mata dia sebelah warna biru, sebelah lagi warna cokelat.
Mak kata, jangan cepat sangat nak kawinkan arnab tu. Biar dia kenal-kenal dulu. Gerenti dabit suka giler sebab dapat girlfriend baru. Nanti-nanti dapat anak arnab lagi...best-best!

vanilla plant...

At last, I have a pot of vanilla plant. My sister bought it for me at the Amcorp Mall flea market. The plant cost for RM10 only, kinda cheap for 1ft tall seedling. Last time I found that the price for this size, can cost about RM15-RM18 each. I dunno when I can harvest my very own vanilla pod, but the book said, vanilla plant will take 2 years time to get mature and start fruiting. This is my 3rd time I 'meet' this plant in reality. The 1st time happened when I visited Singapore Botanical Garden during my 2nd year study landscape architecture. I was so amazed that time. The 2nd time, when I was visiting Flower Show. And, today I have my very own plant.
Vanilla (V.planifolia), is actually a member of the orchid family. Vanilla is the second most expensive spice after saffron (I had opportunity to 'touch' the saffron plant when I visited Cambridge Botanical Garden in late 2003). I wish one day, I will have a jar or vanilla sugar which the vanilla pod is from my garden. Yeah...the photo of my vanilla plant will be updated soon.

hatching eggs...mealworms...sago palm

I think in a few days, I'll 'have new members to my flocks. Today, when I checked all eggs inside my incubator...I found that the 'big' egg which I care most, have like moving sound. Even I can felt the moving chick inside the egg. If the 'big' egg really hatch in few days time, I'll be happiest person on earth! I seldom practice candling eggs that make me confused most of the times. Normally I just felt and weighting the eggs that follows my instinct. If I found the egg has a lighter weight than the others, I just throw them away. 23.07 The 'big' egg hatched just now.

My mealworms culture doing well this time. I give my mealworms chick crumbles, carrots and longbeans. Any mealworms that reach the suitable size (the bigger the better), I'll give them to my below 1 month old chicks. They seem like it so much. And the best thing is, the chicks grow healthy and active. One of my friend taught me to give the mealworms a sugarcane stick. This will make the mealworms grow rapidly, to be frank I still don't try this sugarcane thing.

Last weekend, at my family weekend house, I decided to chop down one rumbia tree (Metroxylon sago), which also known as sago palm. When I was a kid, the kampung people at that time used this rumbia tree to feed their chickens and ducks. During the "darurat" days, the kampung people utilized this tree as their source for food. Mom said, her family used to cook this rumbia and make a "lempeng sagu" from it. Go to this website to read more...EatingAsia. And for myself, I cut this rumbia to 2ft long logs, then I divided into 6 segments from each log, later bring back to my backyard chicken farm, and finally have all of my birds to enjoy the sagu. And they loved it very much.

merak dan kawan2

06.07 Harini masuk hari ke-2 bebudak merak dan g.fowl pandai balik dan masuk reban sendiri. Semua ni ikut pelajaran kat net. Masa kali pertama lepaskan, meraka ni blur shj dan takmau berkawan dengan orang lain. Liar pon iya juga. Hari ke-2 lepaskan depa gi terbang2 atas bumbung rumah...alamak! Abisla semua org tau...
Dulu2 mereka ni time makan pon asing2 kena letak bawah pokok rambutan just for them. The whole day under the rambutan and ciku trees, the'll play, rest while enjoying the sun and the falling fruits. Satu lagi, mereka belum paham bahasa panggilan yg digunakan..tak lama lg faham la tu kot...kiddy..kiddy..kiddy..balikkkk
Some of my birds know their calling name...like my naked neck silkie, I call him "Botak", and everytime I call his name, he'll running to me and waiting incase I'll throw some kibbles for him. And the same thing happened to my late "Kompot"...my favorite hen. But, died already because of old age. My male cochin also knows his name..."Cochin". I treat my birds like I treat my cats. But not all of my cats have name, only 5 of 'em have special name..and the rest I call "Baby". I wish to call my peafowl "Whitty", but I don't know they'll understand and respond to the calling name or not...they have small brain rite...hahahaha
07.07 My peafowls seem to respond to "kiddy" calling calls today for the very 1st time...yeahhhh!
08.08 My peafowls joined my other chickens having their lunch, and now resting under the rambutan and ciku trees..my male whitty ran to me as he thought i will throw some kibbles for him...

Housing etc.

Turkeys Stoking rate > 4msq bird (organic);4 to 6 sq ft intensive. End walls of the shed were East - west orientation. Get better carcass and breast muscle yields were recorded in poults reared under 1.5 ft2 [0.46 m2] of floor space at 8 weeks of age. Turkeys are much more fragile than chickens until they develop their immune system at eight weeks of age.

Guinea Fowls
Housing size will depend on the number of guineas. It is advised to allow 3-4 square feet per bird. High perches made from 2"x 2" wood are preferred by the birds. Ladder type roosts are also ideal.

Peafowls
For a breeding trio of peafowl you should have a minmum of 37 square metres. Larger pens are better. The roof should be at least 3 meter high, with sheltered roosts at least 1 meter off the ground.

Acclimating
When you get new guineas, don't let them out right away or they may well disappear down the street. The best way to acclimate them is to pen them where they can see the area where they'll be living. After they've been penned a week or two, let one out. Guineas hate to be alone, so that one won't go far, but it will learn its way around your place. After a few days, let another out to run with it. If they stay around it's usually safe to let the rest out soon thereafter. I use this same method with Peafowl, letting a new hen out before the male as the hens are more social.

Dedak (pounded wheat and rice grains) and the occasional corn to make the flesh tastier and more tender.

Medication Pounded red onion and mix with starter feed for chicks ( fever, internal parasites, etc.)
Pounded galangal roots and garlics drinks for chickens / ducks (mycoplasma treatment)
Tumeric drinks for chickens / ducks (internal parasites)

Recent Findings Animals raised on pasture have much higher levels of omega 3 fatty acids, conjugated lineolic acid (CLA), and beta carotene. These animals also have lower levels of fat and fewer calories.

What is Omega 3?
What is Omega 6?

nota : inkubator & kekalkan anak ayam sihat

Incubator in force air incubator(ada pam angin). Modify dengan tambah lubang, utk tak pakai pam angin.

1) mentol warna merah

2) mentol warna biru / hijau

Anak ayam ni lepas usia 3 hari masuk dlm brooder kasi jer minum air suam, esok nya baru tukar air lain yg di campurkan dgn vitamin. nak kasi makan biar dia dah berumur 4 hari baru la ok. sbbnya dulu aku letak ayam dlm brooder kasi dia minum dan makan terus. akibatnya anak2 ayam byk kena berak kapur. tp bila aku praktikkan cara kasi makan selewat usia 4/5 hari aku tgk masalah berak kapur dah x berlaku. yg terjadi pun berak melekat kt bulu tu jer.(rebung)

JANGAN SEJUKKAN ayam pada usia muda, kalau masa muda ayam sejuk, ayam tak boleh tahan masa dah berumur 30 hari atas... Sebab bila ayam dah biasa sejuk, ayam tu nak lebih sejuk bila dah berusia... tapi, bila kita tak boleh bagi sejuk, then only one thing happen.. ayam akan mati...

orang...reban...others

Dah 3 hari berturut-turut ada je orang datang kat rumah. 2 hari pertama muka kawan2 je...hari ke-3 ni my sedara lak. Yang kelakar nye, tatau pon dia ni sedara...tetiba dia tau my name. huhu..terkejut gak mula2...bila dah berborak barula perasan dia tu sedara sebelah ayah, pangkat auntie. Dia ni byk bela ayam kampung...dia kata serasi ayam2 tu dgn dia. Sempat buat lawak lg tu..."bagusla camni, lehla kita2 tukar2 ayam..."..tergelak besar dia. Dia sempat booking utk frizzle chicken dgn dark meat dgn cochin bantam..."ada barang nnt, i'll give u a call".
Seperti biasa, memang dah rutin pusing2 kat reban tengok2 bebudak tu. Harini rezeki baik, sempat selamatkan telur bebudak cochin dan whitty drpd biawak (monitor lizard). Paling best, berjaya membunuh dinasour tu...hahahha padan muka dia!
Then I recieved a call from Sepul...he asked me about the design. Yeah...another pogress. Yet, I still don't recieve any pics from Syaril 'bout the pump and fittings...semua jd camni sbb angkara "sowang" ni duk putar belit...akhirnya kena develop sendri. Fortunately, I still have my other friends who can help me work it out with my "cuba2" projek...btw, utk org putar belit tu...'ll ask my legal practice friends to "kenakan" dia semula. Paling best, tak kemana punya kalo hari2 duk melantak duit haram..."kebykkan masa kita gelak2, kita epi2...tp ada masa kita serius"

Esok pagi kena gi lawat rumah yg tgh renovation tu...wak kata nak datang sambung wat keje. Kena gi carik barang lagi...kena design lagi...kena kira2 lagi...dan ntah apa2 lagi. Waaa..cepatla siap rumah ni...dah tak sabar nak lepak2 situ bila bosan kat reban...
Kelaparan...nak gi makan la. Mak masak apa ntah wangik sungguh kat dapur...lauk ayam kampung ke? Pehhh...sambung lagi bebila dah kenyang. =)

Ada macam2 jenis tray dah tgk...tp yg ni sesuaila utk hobbyist like me. Lgpon tader byk telur nak sekali eram. Dan harini juga dah dpt ukuran semua, so I can develope my own incubator. Yeah!

Diets in Captivity

Types of Feed i) grain and commerical blends (pellets or mash). The commerical blends and rations have been scientifically formulated to include all the essential nutrients needed. Check the protein level of the ration as it varies at the different stages of life. For an example, newly hatched chicks to 6 weeks of age are offered a Starter blend that is 30% protein; the grower is offered to birds 6 weeks to adults and is 19% protein; breeder diet is 20% and is offered a month before and through the breeding/laying season; the maintenance diet is provided to non breeding adult birds, protein is 12%.Although, can blend with raw materials.
Green Feed Fruits and veggies are important. Experiment with a variety to see which the birds prefer. Peanuts can be offered as a treat. You can use them, along with mealworms, to condition the birds to get close for observations. Chopped hard boiled eggs are good to add to the diets of chicks and adult birds.
Vitamin & Mineral Supplements Offer to the birds' diets. Some mix vitamins in the drinking water, but these can spoil rather quickly on hot days.
Water Drinking water is very important. Make sure birds have access to clean, fresh water daily.
Live Food Mealworms are the most popular and inexpensive live food. Mealworms are important daily foods for growing chicks and for chicks who are having trouble learning to eat. Crickets are also offered to the birds. Offered only once a week as part of the diet, but fed as treats through the week.
Grit
It is very important to offer grit at all times. Since everyone is aware that birds do not have teeth, the grit is stored in the gizzard and breaks down the food for digestion.
Feeding Fresh food should be offered to birds daily. During the hot summer months, it is advised to feed early in the morning or late in the evening to help reduce added stress during the heat. The food which the birds have access to should be kept in a dry, vermin proof area. Greens should be offered as often as possible in an area out of direct sunlight.
Feed Storage It is important to keep unused feed stored in a dry room to keep fresh and from molding. Use a sealed bin or container.
Conclusion
Diet Pans

Today (24.06) I fed my peafowls with layer pallet plus kibble and some green at late afternoon after I released them for an hour. They seem like it. Tomorrow I plan to let them have some fruits.
25.06...my birds enjoyed the fruits very much. I also bought a pack of "sayur campur" for them...and yet I don't try to feed them the mealworms. My mealworms culture not ready yet to be fed to the birds.

napier vs alfalfa

Napier to be added later

Alfalfa
One of the most important characteristics of alfalfa is it's high nutritional quality as animal feed. Alfalfa contains between 15 to 22% crude protein as well as an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. Specifically, alfalfa contains vitamins A, D, E, K, U, C, B1, B2, B6, B12, Niacin, Panthothanic acid, Inocitole, Biotin, and Folic acid. 1.kalu seminggu masih terang, maknanya takder benih.
2.kalu seminggu ada 'gelap', maksudnya ada embrio developed.
3.kalu dah dekat nak tetas, nampak gelap tapi ada sikit bayang benjol, ok.
4.kalu dah dekat nak tetas, nampak gelap tapi ada sikit gelang cerah di atas (bayangkan teh ais yg terbiar - ada lapisan ais mencair diatas), ada bacteria layer. takder harapan. (arifah)

audit & trainning & kiddy

Baru balik dari workshop kat Shah Alam. 3 hari kena layan officers dr PBT seluruh Selangor. Session yg kali ni pun jumpa juga muka2 yg dikenali...best betoi! Officers PBT Selangor yg hadir kira okla semua walopon ada satu dua yg tidak berapa beri kerjasama...tp mereka2 ni lebih serius utk belajar dan sharing ideas / ilmu. Satu je yang perasan bila gi workshop dgn gomen ni...bab makan best sungguh..huhuhu. Hampir setiap 4 jam ada je benda nak makan.
Habis workshop yg ni, kena review / updating semua audit forms...kena translate ke bahasa melayu plak. Mula2 ingat nak minta org lain tlg buatkan...tp bila difikir2kan semula...lebih baik buat sendri sbb dari awal memang dah developed benda tu 3 orang..boss + mysef + my sis. Lagipon keje jaga bebudak kiddy siang hari je..malam2 bukan ada aktiviti...lebih baik buat keje audit. At least nnt taderla byk sgt nama dlm borang tu...kalo semua jadi seperti perancangan...borang audit ni akan dipatternkan supaya tader sapa2 leh suka2 ubah isi borang tu. Bukan nak giler kuasa..tp my sister yg advice mcmtu...so follow jer la. Lepas ni kena lagi aktif dgn JKM dan NGO...nak ikut depa gi kempen satu malaya pasal access auditing ni. huhuhu best!..taun depan leh naik pangkat...kekekekeke...walopon takkan jadi kaya raya tp ada life dan hepi...itu yg penting. Balik rumah ada kiddy..lg epi.
Walopon penat drive all d' way dr Serdang...blk tu sempat gak singgah kat petshop kat semban dgn kedai dedak kat senaling. Saja singgah tengok apa yg ada...tader yg menarik kali ni. Pastu sempat berborak dgn owner kedai dedak pasal napier...dia kata 1ekar napier leh bg makan 30ekor lembu utk sebulan dan seterusnya. Tapi dia nasihatkan jgn lepaskan lembu dlm kawasan napier tu...nnt rumput cpt abis. Kali ni tak beli apa2 dr dia...sbb stok raw materials ada byk lg.
Leher sakit lagi...sok pagi kena gi jumpa doktor la gamaknye..td bebudak kat kedai dedak kata "ko ni tdo salah bantal kot"...hehehehe...yer la kot. Depa siap gelakkan lg...kata "ko jalan mcm robot la"..sakit tu kalo tamau jalan mcm robot...huhuhu..takpe kowang gelakkan la, nnt kowang kena...kowang taula...

macam senang

Dah beberapa hari duk usha pasal arnab...rasa teringin la pulak nak membela macam dulu2. Nampak senang...dan menyenangkan orang lain incase kena gi kerja luar lagi. Kali ni kalo mau terlibat lagi pasal arnab ni, kena wat perkiraan betui2 tak macam yg sebelum ni yg mana cuma utk suka2 sahaja.
baka apa nak dibela...kampung? angora? lop?
makanan apa nak diberi...dedak kambing? dedak rebit? jagung? napier?
sangkar mcm mana nak suh depa ni lepak2...rumah teres? rumah pangsa?
berapa pasang kena ada sebangai permulaan...2? 4? 6?
...dan paling best, sapa pulak nak tlg buatkan sangkar depa...hehehehehe

Tapi seriously pada pendapat aku memang dikirakan senang berbanding bela ayam. Kalo aku buat benda ni betul2, aku kena kira semuanya. Berapa kali arnab beranak setahun? Purata bilangan anak berapa pulak? Peringatan untuk diri sendri, lepas ni kalo nak beli baka...kena tnya kat penjual, arnab yang dia jual tu history berapa ekor anak skali beranak. Sungguh teruja la benda ni...at least nanti2 ada bekalan daging fresh dan tayah lagi mkn daging lembu. Lgpon orang-orang kat rumah ni kureng mkn lembu. Kena yakin ni...aku mesti buat!

ingin memulakan penternakan..????

Jadi, apa yg aku ternak byk mengambilkira kedua-dua pelanggan aku ni.

5)reban or perumah..
Rumah ayam itik aku sempoi je. Even reban neighbor aku kat sebelah tu pon lg cantik drpd aku punya.

6) adakah benih mudah diperolehi?
Senang nak dapat kalo sanggup berbelanja. Cuma kena rajin merayap untuk mendapat value for money. Aku beli bukan sbb ayam/itik tu besar ke apa...kebykkan aku invest sebab aku suka tengok ayam itik tu. Ayam besar2 ni aku tak berapa berminat sebab aku tau pelanggan aku suka apa...

7) ilmu penternakan?

8) pasaran?
pasaran setakat ni tak timbul lg. Maklumla ayam itik aku berapa ekorla sangat...leh bilang dengan jari. Kalo dah takleh dikira dgn jari sok2...barula aku berfikir cemana + kemana aku nak pasarkan ayam itik ni...belum sampai masa watpe nak pening2 kepala.

9)pulangan modal?
pulangan modal aku gunakan utk tambah stok/aset dan menambahbaik kawasan reban ayam itik aku. Kiranya buat masa ni maseh zero lg pulangan modal aku...dah sampai goal kapasiti yg aku nakkan nnt barula aku benti invest tambah stok/aset...

Kedai Kayu Terpakai

Dah lama rasanya mengabaikan kebajikan ayam2 & itik2. Mereka ni perlukan tempat tinggal yg lebih selesa. Bukan yg sebelum ni kurang selesa tapi dah sesak.
Rekabentuk ikut a.k.a copy dari forumer BJ punya...amik sana sikit, sini sikit. Sendri bikin, nak upah org tak padan la, lagi satu perabih duit ja.
Musim hujan pun dah mula tiba. Rasanya sejak jumaat lepas sampai harini, hujan setiap petang. Kesian kat g.fowl terpaksa berhujan. Nanti lama2 demam plak. Tuan jugak yang susah.
Lagi satu, terasa malu juga bila tengok reban ayam sendri tak macam reban ayam orang lain...hehehe. Kena invest 4 reban sebab ada 4 jenis ayam, depa ni taleh tdo sama2...nnt duk patuk2 dan plaing teruk, nnt ada pulak yg patah sebab terjatuh. Tuan jugak yg susah lagi.

ayam mutiara...

Sekarang dah mula season anak ayam mutiara a.k.a keets menetas. Tahun ni jumlah ibu baka tak sebyk tahun lepas, tinggal tak sampai 20 ekor semuanya. Hari-hari hanya mampu kutip dalam 5-6 biji telur je, itupon kalau terjumpa..kalo tak...samada dimakan biawak atau hilang la. Maklumla ayam ni suka bertelur bersepah2...cuma induk tua je yang 'nesting train' yg ibu muda semua main suka cicir sana sini. Keets dari sarang pertama dah mula netas...best betui rasa!
Reban kecik dah tak cukup, nak kena buat lagi. Tapi masa tak pernah cukup akhir-akhir ni. Setakat ni sempat angkat kayu bawa gi kat kawasan berpagar belakang tu je...lain-lain tak mampu nak buat. Gergaji pon belum bagi kat wak nak minta dia tolong asahkan...esok pagi la bagi kat wak masa gi tengok pogress dia wat accessible stairs. Accessible stairs ni my boss kata nak didokumenkan as for us to determine the standards.
My goal tahun ni nak kumpul ayam mutiara at leasti 100 ekor termasuk besar dan kecik. DAN satu lagi my goal...mengenali jantina keets. Mesti ada caranya, dan mesti tahu.
Cepatla kowang keets membesar, dah tak sabar ni...

Rak ayam itik bertelur

3 tingkat rak berukuran 1' x 1' x 1.5'..total sarang 27 ruang. Dah jadi macam rumah merpati. Harap2 ayam dan itik2 suka, dan tak berebut tempat bertelur...harap2 mereka ni reti diajar. Kalo menjadi seperti yg dirancang, lepas ni kena invest egg incubator sebiji utk permulaan. Tamau dah bagi g.fowl & turkey eram telur mereka sendri...haru biru tempat bersarang dibuatnya. Tambahan pula itik nila yg garang bila mengeram...kecoh dan berkecah dibuatnya. Dulu2 masa jumlah mereka ni sikit semua under control, but lately everything 's changed..taleh tahan dah tgk hari2 ada je telur pecah...terpaksa gak buat rak. Rak ni takla secantik mana, tapi i try my very best to implement what i'd learnt b4...huhuhu...fun juga ptg kayu n ketuk paku.
Semua improvement kena buat one at a time, semua kena kira...kepentingan, budget, dan masa (semua buat sendri). Esok nak sambung lagi buat rak...gi amik kayu dan pelan2 siapkan semua nesting boxes yg blum siap...tapi taleh lama2 sgt nnt datang bebudak kera tu, abih semua telur dirembatnye!

21 march 09
huhuhu tak sambung gi buat rak telur...tak sempat! dr pagi kena gi reban, pastu gi pasar, pastu gi beli brg makanan ayam. Masa gi beli makanan ayam tu sempat lagi tengok2 ayam mana yg berkenan...huhuhu dpt sepasang lagi baka ayam arab. Muda lagi baru 3 bulan. Corak bulu dia tak sama sgt mcm yg seblum ni...tp takpe, mlm ni leh check kat website apa jenis yg baru ni...

perbezaan yg baka pertama dan kedua utk betina...

my NEW members

huh! lama betui tak update sini.

Chinese White and Grey Goslings
semalam gi pusing2 kat pet-shop manalatau kalo terjumpa benda menarik...yeah mmg terjumpa pon benda yg dicari selama ini...iaitu anak angsa putih baka chinese white. Depa ni belum besar mana pon, tp kira umo dah senang jaga, not too fragile mcm baru netas tu. Tokey kata umo sebulan...yer la tu kot. Seblum2 ni pon beli angsa dh besar, diberi nama "ang-guard" terdiri drpd sekor baka embden, dan lg 2 eko tu chinese grey...tp mereka ni tatau jd guard pon...hehehe. My ang-guard ni tamau beranak pinak, jadi kena invest baru.
My parents kata..."anak angkat"...hehehe. Now ni yang jadi my main agenda plak...how to differentiate mana jantan mana betina...

Itik Serati
Tapi itik serati ni cantik...sebab plumage bercorak. Lagipon i try nak buat my reban jadi concept "rainbow"...hehehe...dpt anak je actually! At least 'm hepi so much dah...nnt kalo ada rezeki, nak cari lg.

Rosecomb Chicken..not true breed
Balung dia bentuk rose...beli pon sebab bentuk comb ni. Tapi ayam ni bukan baka asli...mutt dah. Apa2 leh jd and dapat kalo ayam ni kawin dgn ayam lain. Tak kesahla tu...janji balung bentuk rose.

Ala-ala "Pencilled Palm" Turkey
Mereka ni sepasang. Umur 2bulan lebih to 3 months. Tanya kat penjual pon dia tak sure. Tak kesahla tu. Janji corak bulu cun!

Mereka ni tinggal sereban dgn anak2 ayam kampung berumur sebulan. Baka ni dapat dr kawan, dia bawa masa datang kat reban tempohari. Sekarang ni tengah tunggu baka 'ayam katik' plak sampai...

Sg Timon. buaya..kelip2..dan...udang galah

Harini, baru balik dari Sg Timon. Penat. Penat. Selama ni duk tengok buaya sun bathing kat tv je..semlm dpt tgk dgn mata sendri..perghh seronok betui daa. Walopun tak dpt tgk depa berebut makanan mcm kat Animal Planet, takat dpt tgk depa libas ekor ngan wat buih2 air pon jadi laa. Other than that, tengok nelayan dan org awam yang datang utk memancing udang galah yg lepas liar dalam sungai tu.
Pada sebelah malam, beramai2 gi tgk kelip2. Sambil2 tu belajar pasal kelip2 plak. Masa ni dpt tgk pokok2 berkelip2 dgn lampu kecik2 kaler kuning...macam raya plak rasanya. Balik dr makan2...terlepak dlm chalet tgk citer Korea...sampai terlelap.
Pastu nak asah skill guna SLR camera. Terfikir juga sebenarnya nak pusing2 area situ cari baka ayam yg menarik, tapi tak jumpa satu pon. Semua biasa2 je. Yang dpt bawa balik hanya sekilo udang galah dan beberapa btg anak pokok malalucae cajaputi...ingat nak tanam pokok ni kat rumah lama mak di tepi sawah tu. Kalo hidup nnt sure menarik!
I think when they planning to develop this site, they never asked for consultation or help from the experts. I can bet within 2 years, if no one alert with this problem, Sg Timon dan kelip2, buaya & udang akan hilang ke'glamor'annye.

photographing with nikond40x

Huh! harini at last sempat habiskan masa lepak2 dengan ayam sambil bawa kamera. Dah lama tak pegang kemera sejak my canon prob. Harini kena warm-up sebab esok nak pergi amik gambar buaya ngan kelip2 plak. Cuma tolong2 comrades utk majalah posting mereka. Sebelah tu contoh pic yg diambil harini.
Berbaloi gak guna kamera digital SLR ni...atleast i can be a bit creative la. Walopun i just an amature dlm photographing ni...still, i can be proud of it. Other than that, my sister commented a lot about all my photos which i taken today...hahaha...slumber...ini je yang mampu. She's the one yang duk pushing me until this stage too.

Notes about the pic

Itu adalah single comb ORI kampung rooster. Si single comb ni dibeli tahun lepas kat pasar ayam Bahau dengan harga rm17 je...tokey tu sendri yg tolong pilihkan, dia kata ayam ni cantik kalo dijadikan bapak ayam.
Memang cantik pon kan.Dan dia sempat bagitau, Chinese suka ayam single comb. Sampai harini i still dunno why. Not too big, nor too small. Juct nice la. Jenis daging pejal.

Introduction To Breed

a. Cross Breed
A cross-breed is a chicken which had parents of different breeds. These cannot be shown. When selling, they can be sold (if, say, the parents were turkens and silkies) as turken/silkie crosses
d

b. Mutts
A mutt is a chicken where one or more of the parents were cross-breeds or mutts themselves. These cannot be shown. They are often sold as 'barnyard selection' or mutts.

However, some people confuse these two words. When you buy or breed a cross-breed or mutt, you don't know what you are getting, and so can get some interesting looking birds.

c. Hybrids
Hybrids are chickens that are not real breeds. They have been developed to serve one of two purposes: either producing large amounts of meat or eggs. They are produced in boring colours (usually white for meat and brown for eggs) and often do not breed true (meaning that the offspring will not look the same as the parents) like standardised breeds.
