"DIBESARKAN TANPA SEBARANG SUNTIKAN HORMON."
It has been observed that there are several hormones (growth hormones) that help animals gain weight in no time. Inducing such hormones in the animals artificially, can reduce the amount of food as well as the time required for gaining weight. All this results into quick production of the animals for the meat industry. The same technique is applied in the dairy production as it also increases the milk production of cows and other dairy animals.
So do they feed chicken with growth hormone or not?

Enzymes for Animal Feed
.
In some cereals, a large part of the NSP is soluble and causes high viscosity in the small intestine of a monogastric (simple single-chambered stomach) animal . As a result, digestion becomes impaired. Selected microbial enzymes can partially degrade this NSP, lowering viscosity in the intestine and improving feed utilisation.
Many vegetable protein sources, such as soybean meal, also contain NSP. The addition of selected microbial enzymes can be used to break down the NSP and make it available to the animal. Just as with cereals, the metabolisable energy and protein utilisation for vegetable protein sources can be improved by using the correct combination of amylases and proteases.
Maize (corn) has a low content of soluble NSPs and is considered to be an ideal cereal. Other cereals contain higher amounts of NSPs that normally impair feed utilisation. Some cereals are also avoided in poultry diets due to the adverse effects caused by NSP. Barley is a prime example because inclusion of more than 10% barley in broiler diets gives rise to wet and sticky droppings as well as reduced growth rates. This is due to beta glucan, a soluble, high viscosity NSP located in the cell walls of the barley grain. By adding microbial enzymes to the barley based feed, the NSP could be degraded giving an improvement in droppings, better feed utilisation and faster growth rate.

Incubation Principles
.
- to be clean, undamaged & free pathogens
- stored at temperature of 15-18C & relative humidity 75% (12-15C if stored more than 7 days)
- incubator temperature of 37.5C at the centre of the egg (the reading need to be 39.5C two inches above the eggs)
- incubator relative humidity of 50-60% ( hatcher relative humidity 75%)
- adequate aeration from good ventilation (have a complete air change every hour)
- adequate turning @ ideally 5 times a day /at least three times a day (the odd number ensures that the eggs are not always on the same side during the long night period)

Makan-makan
.
Mula-mula mak buat camni ...daun palas dianyam jadi bentuk 3-segi, tapi belum isi ketupat lagi. Mak buat macamni untuk "latih" daun palas supaya senang nanti untuk bungkus isi dia. Bila dah diisi dengan adunan ubi (ubi kukur + garam + kelapa tua kukur), balutan daun palas tadi jadi gemuk-gemuk, jadi bentuk piramid.
Pastu mak rebus ketupat ubi yang dah siap hingga masak. Bila dah masak, mak masukkan dalam kuali, jadi macam ni. Warna daun palas pon dah berubah jadi hijau muda. Tengok mak makan ketupat dengan gula, pastu dia buat air teh-O panas...macam sedap je dia makan. Memandangkan waktu tu dah masa minum petang, I pon joined mak semeja. I belah dua ketupat tapi I tak selera nak cecah gula, jadi I pon ambil goreng ikan puyu berlada (mak juga yang buat tengahari tadi untuk lunch)...camni la rupa kueh dalam piring.
Macam ketupat palas isi pulut juga, tapi isi dia lagi kenyal. Makan waktu panas-panas OK la...bila dah sejuk, baling kat dinding pon dia boleh melantun-lantun macam bola. Tapi I TAK try buat pon, takut kalo mak tau I buat permainan kueh dia grenti I kena sok-sek...hehehe
Apa-apa pon mekaseh mak sebab buat kueh ni yang I tak pernah tengok sebelum ni.

hugh river cottage
.
Bila dia balik Malaysia, my sis bagi I tengok cd River Cottage season 1, gambar zaman dulu2. =)
Tahun lepas, barula I beria-ia tengok River Cottage kat Astro. Then, kuar plak siri Chicken Run. Dua siri kat AFC Astro yang I tak penah missed nak tengok. Dan tahun lepas jugalah I dah sedar banyak pasal terma-terma asing atas tadi tu.
Memandangkan Astro ni suka ulang-ulang cerita dia, semalam I tengok lagi River Cottage.

baru balik...
.
Sepanjang cuti-cuti tu, adala yg best dan tak best. Yang tak best makanan memang tak sedap. Tak kirala makanan tempatan atau luar. Satu je yg best...ACAR (basic ingredient timun + carrot). Itupon makan masa kat Hyatt. Siap sempat tanya chef dia cemana dia buat...ya la, dah chef tu duk ja berdiri kat tepi, I pon tanyala. Semua bahan natural katanya. Hajat di hati nak try makanan penduduk tempatan, street food ke apa (konon2 nak jadi mcm kat cenel travel&living)...huhu...then tak berani ah nak cuba. Rupa dahla tak tempting apakan nak rasa (agaknye laaa). Gi makan kat McD pon kelakar...fries rasa macam kentang goreng biasa kat rumah, yang kat pasar malam pon lagi best. Time ni la rasa syukurnya tinggal kat Mesia...
Markisa tu manis giler, rasa nak propagate lepas ni. Not that juicy la macam yang variety kulit kuning atau purple, tapi memang manis dan rasa kuat. Nanti I post gambar kat sini.
Ayam sabung jual tepi-tepi jalan je mcm orang kat Mesia ni jual ayam kampung. Van driver kata, ayam2 tu baka ayam Filipina...tapi I tak berminat sangat, jadi wat bodon jer la. Ayam cemani lak duk main-main je kat lorong2 area kampung. Lembu bali plak kat area sawah...punyala gemok, memang cantik. Itik-itik main-main dalam saliran. At least I dapat tengok benda yang ada dalam kepala...(gambar lupa nak copy, tunggu isnin ke selasa baru leh tepek sini)
Dah balik ni, kenala siapkan reban dan order sumer...cuaca panas.
